Judy Zhao is an artist and animator based in Los Angeles. She is currently an MFA candidate at the University of Southern California in Expanded Animation + Research Practice. Her work explores how intersections of digital spaces and gender, femininity, and intimacy construct feelings of physical and psychological separations. Focusing on the contemplative moments in our contemporary lives, her works reflect the quiet, intimate and mundane. She uses digital and physical animation, printmaking, and installation to construct the ephemeral, yet ever-persistent importance of interpersonal care. ​ ​Her films have been included in the Philly Animation Festival, Sehsüchte International Student Film Festival, Odds & Ends Experimental Film Festival, Detroit International Festival of Animation, Lei Gallery, and A Space Gallery.
